SRVM OFFICIALLY RE- OPENS ITS DRIVERS LICENSE TESTING CENTER
Posted: 15 October 2024
To celebrate Transport Month and to boost its revenue, the Sundays River Valley Municipality (SRVM) has officially reopened its Traffic Testing center for heavy motor vehicles (code 14 & 10), light motor vehicles (code 8 ) and motorcycle license testing.
The municipality's traffic testing field has been closed for years due bad roads infrastructure at Nqweba Town among other things.
The Office of the Premier then intervened through the Small Towns Revitalization Programme which has resulted in many roads being paved in Nqweba Town, Aqua Park, Bergsig and Moses Mabida.
Speaking during the official opening on Monday, 14 October 2024, the Mayor of SRVM Councillor Solethu Lucas said he is pleased that the municipality is reopening its driver's license testing center because this will improve the municipality's revenue collection efforts.
"The opening of the testing field means that the municipality will collect more revenue to add to our coffers and improve service delivery" he said.
"We appreciate the assistance that we have received from the Office of The Premier and the Department of Transport because the work they have done is the reason we are here and opening this field today" he added.
The Mayor further called on community members to guard the facility and report anyone who tries to vandalise it.
SRVM is ready to accept new application for vehicle testing from residents and people who come from nearby areas.
The municipality would like the residents to note that there is no online application system currently, interested applicants must physically come to the municipality to apply.
Learners license applications are also available, and the tests are conducted through a computerized system.
People who would like to get different services from the SRVM's Traffic Department are advised to always bring their valid ID, proof of address and photos where necessary and money on their bank accounts because the municipality doesn't accept cash payments.
For more enquiries, drivers license applicants can contact the municipality at 042 230 7700 or send a WhatsApp text to 078 266 6230 during working hours.
The Traffic Department does not operate during weekends and public holidays, should this change for any specific reason the municipality will communicate via its communication platforms.
