SALGA Meets Minister of Electricity and Energy

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, the SALGA Presidency, led by Cllr Bheke Stofile, met with the Minister of Electricity and Energy, Hon. Dr. Kgosientso Ramokgopa, in Cape Town ahead of the Opening of Parliament Address. This marks the first meeting between SALGA and the new Minister in his role within the 7th Administration.
The discussions covered several critical topics, including:
- Electricity Distribution Industry reforms
- The energy crisis
- The Just Energy Transition and the introduction of the energy market
- Outstanding municipal debts
- Eskom debt
