SALGA Gauteng to convene its 4th Provincial Conference to elect new provincial leadership

SALGA will convene its 4th Provincial Conference in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality on the 29th - 30th September at the Emperors Palace, Kempton Park.
The 2016 SALGA Gauteng Provincial Conference is held in line with the spirit and imperatives of the SALGA Constitution which stipulates that the provincial members shall, within a period of 60 days after every general local government elections, hold a meeting of members called a Provincial Conference.
The Provincial Conference will be attended by municipal councillors from the 11 municipalities within the Gauteng Province including the three metros, City of Johannesburg, City of Tshwane and Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.
The Provincial Conference is the highest decision maker and meets every 5 years to undertake the following;
- To elect new members of the Provincial Executive Committee;
- To consider the 2011-2016 Organizational Report
- To consider reports from provincial working groups and oversight bodies
- To adopt SALGA annual performance plan and budget in respect of the financial year
- Adopt Audited financial statements in respect of the past financial year;
- To review SALGA’s financial performance
The newly elected Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni Councillor Mzwandile Masina is expected to welcome delegates to the conference while the Gauteng Premier Honourable David Makhura will deliver his keynote Address.
