Office of the CEO

The office of the CEO provides overall strategic and operational leadership to the organization. All Directorates and Provinces are coordinated within this office. The Chief Executive Officer is the sole administrative accounting officer of SALGA and provides strategic leadership with the support of the units within this Directorate.

The Office of the CEO has the following Units:

Communication and Marketing

This unit is responsible for conveying organizational information and creating awareness of the value of the organization to its members and stakeholders. Communication and Marketing provides direction on internal and external communication as well as markets the organization to its stakeholders. This entails updating employees on developments, brand management, corporate identity and image, media relations and advertising. This is the unit that safe guards and protects the organizational image and brand, while ensuring that all stakeholders are kept abreast.

Internal Audit

This is independent and objective unit that seeks to provide assurance for improved organisational operations. It helps accomplish organisational objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Corporate Secretatriat, Governance and Strategic Programmes

Internal governance encompasses the system of policies, processes, rules and by-laws affecting the organisation is directed, administered or controlled, these are created by the SALGA leadership for the organization to follow. This unit is the custodian, coordinator and keeper of these policies and processes. The unit also provides secretariat support to management and ensuring the proper coordination of meetings and recording of such.

Legal and Compliance

The unit is responsible for ensuring that SALGA acts in accordance with good corporate governance principles and that it complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. The Compliance Unit is works towards ensuring that all SALGA employees fully meet their official obligations and that each unit complies with the appropriate compliance levels.
Performance Management
Performance management Unit ensures that the organisational goals are consistently being met in an effective and efficient manner through the various Directorates’ activities. Performance Management is both behavior and results focused as these are the two critical elements of performance.

Risk Management

This unit is responsible for coordinating and supporting the overall organisational risk management process, but does not assume the responsibilities of Management for identifying, assessing and managing risk.  This unit identifies, assesses, and prioritises risks and provides economical application of resources to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of unfortunate occurrences or maximise the realisation of opportunities. This unit is closely linked to Internal Audit which evaluates and improves the effectiveness of risk management.
