About the Conference


“Building Municipal and Social Cohesion for quality and sustainable services: 2011 and beyond”

The SALGA constitution makes provision for the convening of provincial and national conferences. In line with the SALGA constitution the National Conference (NC) and the Provincial Conferences (PC’s) shall be held within 90 (ninety) days, NC and 60 (sixty) PC’s days after every general local government elections. The PCs are to be convened at least 30 (thirty) days before the NC.

Up to 3000 delegates are expected to attend the National Conference.
 
  • The President of the Republic and the Deputy President;
  • Cabinet Ministers & the Premier of  the host province;
  • Senior Officials from National Departments;
  • MEC’s responsible for local government;
  • Speakers of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures;
  • The Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces;
  • The Chairpersons of Select and Portfolio Committees;
  • Executive Mayors , Mayors and Municipal Managers;
  • Municipal Speakers, Chief Whips, Members of Mayoral Committees;
  • Chairperson of the National House of Traditional Leadership;
  • Local Government Associations in the Region and Internationally;
  • Sponsors and Donors;
  • CEO’s of key State Enterprises
