SALGA NEC POLICY WORKSHOP

About the policy workshop

As the representative voice of the sphere of Local Government it is our role and responsibility to ensure an efficient and effective local government through representing the needs and positions of municipalities for better service delivery. The SALGA National Executive Committee (NEC) met on 21 June 2010, to draw up a Local Government position that seeks to influence the policy making process at the ruling party’s National Policy Conference scheduled from 26 June 2012.

SALGA's NEC Policy Workshop concluded on areas that are to be advanced at the ruling parties policy conference on behalf of local government. The areas are:

  1. An enabling policy and legislative framework for local government
  2. Building the capacity for developmental local government
  3. Economic transformation
  4. Social transformation
  5. Education and health

As SALGA we will continue to be the voice of organised local government and champion the cause of municipalities. We are determined in our drive to improve on service delivery at a municipal level and will always place the interests and priorities of our member municipalities at the top of our agenda.
