SALGA and Wits School of Governance assist 20 municipal leaders with Leadership in Municipal Governance Training

About 20 executive mayors, mayors and speakers from South African municipalities on Tuesday, 15 May, attended their first class of a five-month Leadership in Municipal Governance (LMG) Program at the University of Witwatersrand Campus in Johannesburg.
SALGA through its Municipal Institutional Development (MID) Directorate recently entered into a formal partnership with the Wit’s School of Governance (WSG), to develop and deliver a Leadership in Municipal Governance program for the benefit of municipal political and administrative leadership echelon.
The LMG program is part of a signature bouquet of leadership development programmes offered by SALGA under the auspices of the SALGA Centre for Leadership and Governance (SCLG). The Leadership in Municipal Governance program is a unique professional training and development program for municipal leaders structured as a formalised certificated program.
LMG program was created in response to the articulated and inherent needs of local government political and administrative leaders executive and oversight responsibilities in the development of their localities.
Three block classes per month will run until September 2017.
