Announcement Media Release of Seminar: "STRENGTHENING INCLUSIVE COALITION GOVERNANCE FOR EFFECTIVE,
EFFICIENT, AND TRANSFORMATIVE SERVICE DELIVERY."

Posted: 22 February 2024

Pretoria, South Africa - In an unprecedented collaborative effort, the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung
announce a follow-up seminar on "Strengthening Inclusive Coalition Governance for Effective, Efficient, and Transformative Service Delivery." This seminar will address the complexities posed by coalition governments in South Africa and explore innovative strategies to enhance governance and service delivery. It will integrate global perspectives and draw upon insights from the MISTRA Coalitions Barometer and Friedrich-
Ebert-Stiftung's international experiences.

  • Date: 28-29 February 2024
  • Venue: CSIR Convention Centre Pretoria
  • Time: 08h00

Following the 2021 local government elections, there is an increased focus on restoring trust in public institutions and strengthening coalition arrangements for effective governance. This seminar will feature an
array of participants, including government officials, public representatives, civil society leaders, and global coalition governance experts. It will offer interactive sessions and case study discussions enriched by the
comprehensive analysis provided in MISTRA's Coalitions Barometer.

The event aims to consolidate good practices and lessons from countries with successful coalition governance models. Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung's contribution will bring additional international insights,
enhancing the knowledge-sharing and interactive discussions initiated in the National Dialogue in early August 2023.

We extend a cordial invitation to media representatives to cover this seminal event, capturing the combined discussions, insights, and outcomes.

Media representatives interested in attending are kindly requested to RSVP no later than 12th of February 2024.
