Municipal Financing as a tool for Local Development

Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD), SALGA and the UN Capital Development Fund are hosting a one-day conference on Local Financing and Development.
The conference will give an opportunity to learn more about ways to fund local development projects, get inspired by other local government officials and learn about good examples of best practice. ICLD will offer an exclusive presentation about our upcoming 18-month International Training Programme for local government officials and how to apply.
SALGA will present the Capacity Building Framework for Centre for Leadership and Governance (SCLG). Knowledge officials who have participated in the earlier Training Programmes and hear stories of how it helped their municipalities.
This one day conference will use the SDGs as a starting point to promote more holistic discussion on directions for Local Financing and Development. Participants will be encouraged to contribute their knowledge and experience of the topic in the discussion and participate in making recommendations. Lastly, the session will deliberate on assets management as a game changer for local government, consider the data collection and analysis of climate risks.
The ICLD/SALGA/UN conference will take place on July 03, 2018. Commodore Hotel, Portwood Rd, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town.
