SALGA visits Ottawa, Canada for the Building Inclusive Green Municipalities (BIGM) Planning and Learning Week

SALGA and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) recently took part in the Building Inclusive Green Municipalities (BIGM) Planning and Learning week held in Ottawa, Canada.

The overall objective of the visit was to share knowledge and experiences, including lessons learnt in the implementation of the BIGM Project.

During the Planning and Learning Week SALGA had the opportunity to

• Participate and discuss programming processes,
• Discuss Financial/budgeting systems explanations and solutions,
• Discuss training on various project management areas touching on issues of Gender Equality, and
• Join the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Planning session with robust participation.

Through sharing information and experiences, important groundwork was laid and equally important lessons were learnt which can now be used to shape the next phase of the developmental path.

Tebogo Matlou SALGA BIGM Programme Manager says the project aims to lay a foundation on which future projects can be built and achieve long-term vision of developmental local government.
