SALGA is currently implementing Phase Two of the Municipal Leaders Media and Stakeholder Engagement Programme (MSEP) from 23 January to 31 March 2018.This programme was launched under the auspices of the SALGA Centre for Leadership and Governance (SCLG) during the Council of Speakers Forum in August 2017. MSEP aims not only at enhancing leadership and governance capabilities to drive professionalism and excellence in a dynamic and complex municipal environment, but also at fostering a continuous learning environment to help municipal leaders understand, contribute, implement and adapt strategies to achieve impactful media and stakeholder engagement outcomes. If the function is well performed, it constitutes an important mechanism through which citizens can participate in the public life of their community, articulating their interests and deliberating on municipal performance. The programme will bring together professional experts, academic practitioners, and local media personalities to focus on practical skills which feature a simulated live panel discussion. The panel discussion will be recorded to serve as part of participants’ portfolio of evidence, thus, upon successful completion of the programme, delegates will receive certificates of competence. Phase One of MSEP was implemented in Limpopo, North West and Mpumalanga from the 23 October – 7 December 2017. Phase Two of MSEP will be implemented in the below provinces:
Additional sessions will be convened in Gauteng and Free State mid-February to March 2018 and further details will be provided
